Before setting out on a new adventure, it’s nice to have a few goals in mind. It begins with the basic question: What do you want to achieve?
When I began my book-writing journey, I knew from the beginning I wanted to create a whole new world. Easy, right?
I wanted this world to have magic, kings and queens, ball gowns, and gallant knights fighting for what’s right. Now, that’s what a story has, but what a story is… That’s the tricky part.
How do you set a goal for your work? A lot of times, it just comes to you, almost like a dream. The difference is a goal is like a dream but with a deadline. There has to be something tangible. You cannot set a goal without knowing what you are reaching for or when you want to achieve it by.
So, if your goal is to create something inspiring, name what the inspiration is, how you will achieve it, and set a realistic timeline. For me: My goal is to create a story people can relate to and, at the same time, immerse themselves in. I will use a classic story and tell it in a new, exciting way. Finally, I will finish my first draft by March 31st.
Who’s ready to share some of their goals?
